Join Peaceful schools for this interactive activity-based workshop to learn how to seamlessly incorporate social emotional development into all subject areas by using resilience-based strategies on the power of joy on the brain’s ability to learn.  Participants will build their classroom engagement toolbox with activities that can be modified and enhanced to serve all students and learn strategies to make activity-based learning more organized, predictable, and useful.

This event is FREE for law enforcement agents located within Allegany County, school district superintendents, security resource officers, school social workers, and Houghton undergraduate and graduate students.

Leveraging Grant Funds to Support School Safety: the power of proactive collaboration to gather the foundational needs assessment data to ensure competitive applications bring critical funding and resources to Alleghany County.

Using best practices for healthy interpersonal communication, this training from Peaceful Schools is customized to the needs of the communicator and their audience. Participants will be introduced to foundational skills for leveraging verbal and nonverbal communication strategies to interact effectively and to make messages clear, complete, and useful. The training will give participants the opportunity to learn how to use affective statements, question-based approaches, and positive problem-solving skills to engage in healthy conversations.

Chronic stress and trauma can change the way a student’s brain functions, affecting their ability to learn and communicate effectively. This training from Peaceful Schools highlights trauma-informed teaching strategies to support student learning and growth. Through this session, teachers will be supported in developing strategies to establish and maintain positive relationships and resiliency skills in the classroom. Participants will explore stress and its effects on the brain, neuroplasticity, and the power of resilience-based teaching strategies.
