Conflict in the Classroom

Training Description:
This training is designed to include theoretical knowledge of conflict, communication and negotiation strategies. Participants will learn foundational skills for recognizing the elements of conflict and how to choose specific communication strategies to set the stage for the best outcome. Participants will have opportunities to rehearse and plan non-escalating strategies for the classroom setting.

Supporting Students in the LGBTQIA+ Community
with Peaceful Schools Staff
Training Description:
This training was developed to empower educators with an introduction to the needs of youth who identify as LGBTQIA+. Participants will learn to understand basic terminology and definitions with an introduction to the Queer Alphabet LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning), sexual orientation, and gender identity which will help foster inclusive language and create safe spaces.

Addressing Racial and Cultural Equity in The Classroom: A Resonance Approach

Training Description:
The resonance approach is designed to engage educators in exploring identity and bias through a lens of self-reflection. This training provides an opportunity to explore the intersectionality of identity so that staff are prepared with a heightened awareness of the role they play in creating and maintaining a space of equity with students.

Training Description:
Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support is an approach to designing and implementing behavioral and social emotional supports to promote highly predictable and well managed framework for socially safe and welcoming school environments. This session will provide an overview of PBIS core features, addressing how PBIS fits within a Multi-Tiered System of Support.

Restorative Conferencing

Training Description:
This training focuses on how to facilitate and participate in restorative conferences to repair harm that has impacted the school community. Restorative Conferencing has greater success being implemented after a strong Tier 1 foundation has been established.

Culturally Responsive Home Visits

Training Description:
This training for school-based professionals honors that a culturally responsive home visit begins with intentional planning and dialogue with all stakeholders. Our approach is based on lessons learned in the field and a belief in a strengths-based approach. Participants will learn how to adapt themes from culturally responsive instructional strategies into how they work with families.

Trauma Sensitive Strategies for the Classroom
with Peaceful Schools Staff
Training Description:
Students who are coping with or healing from traumatic events and experiences often express behaviors in the classroom that demonstrate the emotional dysregulation they may be navigating. This session will review the signs and patterns students may display as well as a continuum of classroom-based strategies for supporting and responding to students.
